gaia
Gaia is the Greek primordial goddess of the Earth. She created the Earth and all the Universe. She gave birth to the heavenly gods, the Titans and the Giants. When Uranus hid her youngest children away, she devised a plan. She created a grey flint sickle for Cronus to use. After Cronus castrated his father, Gaia created the Erinyes, the Giants and the Meliae from Uranus' spilled blood. Gaia produced Aphrodite from the testicles of Uranus in the sea. Gaia, in union with her son Pontus, gave birth to the sea-deities Nereus, Thaumas, Phorcys, Ceto, and Eurybia. Gaia bore the youngest of her sons Typhon, in union with Tartarus. Gaia also produced other children as well. Gaia is the Greek word for Earth. Gaia is also called Mother Earth.
