aphrodite
Aphrodite is the Greek goddess of love, beauty, pleasure and procreation. According to Homer's Iliad, she is the daughter of Zeus and Dione. According to Hesiod's Theogony, she was born when Cronus cut off Uranus's genitals and threw them into the sea, and she arose from the sea foam. Because of her beauty, the other gods feared that they would become violent with each other over her, which would start a war. To prevent this, Zeus forced Aphrodite to marry Hephaestus, who was ugly and deformed. Aphrodite, who was unhappy with her marriage to Hephaestus, went to find other male companionship such as Ares, Anchises and sometimes Adonis.
