Apollo is one of the most important and complex of the Olympian gods. Apollo had various roles to many things including music, truth, prophecy, healing, the sun and light, plague, poetry and more. He can heal people and protect them from evil but he can also bring about diseases and death. He is a Delphic oracle and has an oracular cult. Two of the cult sites that worshipped Apollo were Delos and Delphi. Apollo has many oracular shrines throughout Greece. When he was young, he slew the dragon called Python who was going to kill his mother whose name is Leto. During the Trojan War, Apollo helped Paris fire the arrow of his bow into Achilles' heel which killed Achilles. Apollo was a master of the lyre. He received his first lyre from Hermes. Apollo had musical contests with Pan, Marsyas and Cinyras. Apollo has an bow and arrows which can cause diseases and death. The NASA program was named after Apollo.
